Coloursound

Coloursound's debut on Animalia arrives as four unconventional floor tracks that bridge dubstep and techno with real intelligence. This is music that refuses easy categorisation - each piece sits in that productive tension between the bottom-end weight of dubstep and the propulsive logic of dub techno, built for spaces where the distinction between genres becomes irrelevant.

Melbourne's Coloursound operates in an increasingly crowded landscape of bass-heavy experimentalism, but there's a clarity to this work that stands apart. The EP doesn't announce itself; it unfolds with the patience of someone who understands how sound travels through a room and what a dancefloor actually needs at 4am.

Animalia continues its A&R instincts with this one - a label that's consistently backed artists working at the edges rather than the centre, and this EP fits that trajectory exactly. Four tracks that reward close listening and reward the floor in equal measure.
