About this record
Music for cozy campfires. Dub techno and ambient cuts from Detroit's Rod Modell on Soma from 2017. Three tracks with field recordings woven through the mix.
Deepchord has spent two decades refining a sound that sits somewhere between the Detroit techno tradition and deep ambient immersion. Modell's approach favours space over density, letting field recordings breathe alongside minimal synth work and processed rhythms that drift rather than drive.
This 2017 EP from Soma Quality Recordings distils that philosophy into three pieces built for late night listening - the kind of record you put on when the world has quieted down. Dub techno frameworks dissolve into something closer to ambient, with reverb and echo doing as much work as the drums themselves.
