About this record
Berlin-based Asphalt DJ returns to R.A.N.D. focusing more on the deep and classy sides of house music. This is stripped-back, thoughtful house - the kind that rewards close listening and works just as well in the booth as on the home system.
Asphalt DJ has built a quiet reputation for understanding what makes house music breathe. On RM12038, that sensibility deepens. The tracks here move with intention, built around strong foundational grooves but never cluttered. There's space in the arrangements, room for the kick and bass to communicate with each other, breakdowns that genuinely shift the mood rather than just marking time.
R.A.N.D. Muzik Recordings has always leaned toward the more considered end of house production, and this release fits that philosophy perfectly. If you're after the functional stuff, look elsewhere. If you value craft and restraint in your dance music, this one's worth your time.
