AKA Francis Latreille, RED

Priori is the alias of Francis Latreille, a musician, DJ, producer and mixing engineer based in Montréal. He is a member of seven musical projects alongside his solo work, among them Jump Source with Patrick Holland, ANF with Dust-e-1, and New World Science with an array of Montréal artists including Ex-Terrestrial and RAMZi.

The "Priori touch" is easy to spot: strange, synthetic textures, enveloping low-end, everything draped in a fine silk gauze that seems to hover just above the surface. But for all its hallmarks, it is also deeply versatile. His palette moves fluidly across dub techno, minimal house, IDM, ambient and breaks, switching between dreamy, afterhours house and eyes-down dub techno with a naturalism that makes the genre-hopping feel inevitable rather than restless.

Priori is also an accomplished mixing engineer who has worked with James K, Bambii, Maara, Ex-terrestrial, Roza Terenzi, D.Tiffany, Regular Fantasy, Ramzi, URA and many more. As one half of NAFF Recordings and the Jump Source recording studio, he is steadily shaping the course of underground electronic dance music in Canada and abroad.

On record, NAFF has been his primary home across three solo albums: "On A Nimbus" (2019) and "Your Own Power" (2021), followed by "This but More" in 2024, a record that sees Priori sidestepping the club in favour of a more contemplative space, yielding electronic compositions layered with acoustic instrumentation and spectral processing. "This but More" won the Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2025. Beyond NAFF, he has released on Kalahari Oyster Cult and GARMO, and his ANF collaboration with Dust-e-1, "Costly Blooms On The Eve of Collapse," appeared on DustWORLD in 2023. His most recent solo vinyl, "9" on Kynant Records, explores dense, patient grooves, assisted by singular Jamaican voice Gavsborg on the opening track. His output will be familiar to any raver who has touched grass at the likes of Sustain-Release, Dekmantel or Waking Life in recent years. The clubs he has played most include Nowadays, StereoBar, Public Records, Société des arts technologiques and Bar Datcha, with Montréal and New York City among his most frequent stops. In 2026 he delivered the RA.1031 podcast, described by Resident Advisor as the debut of "a key architect of the 2020s underground" on the RA Mix.
