Zombies in Miami

Zombies in Miami is the electronic project of Mexican duo Cani and Jenouise, partners in music and life for over 17 years. Together they make hypnotic club music that draws on tribal rhythms, analogue textures and melodic depth, building tracks that work both the body and the mind. Their sound is hard to place neatly in a single genre, which is very much the point.

Over the years they have released on Running Back, Permanent Vacation, Correspondant, Live at Robert Johnson, Internasjonal, Love on the Rocks, Hippie Dance, Cómeme, 2MR and Kompakt, among others. Their debut album 2712 on Permanent Vacation gave a full picture of their cinematic, emotionally charged range. Their SEVEN debut, Unknown Pleasure, appears on SEVENVA02 and is a slow-building, darkly sensual roller designed to move through three distinct phases on the floor, opening deep and restrained before gradually letting loose. It has already found support from Bashkka, Kim Ann Foxman, Alinka, BELLA and Julie Desire.

As performers, Zombies in Miami work entirely with hardware: synths, drum machines, effects units and vocals, with no laptop and no sync. It is an approach rooted in watching and responding to the room rather than following a fixed plan. That flexibility has brought them to venues and festivals including Berghain and Panorama Bar, Robert Johnson, Fabric, Rex Club, Lux Fragil, Nitsa, Blitz, Good Room, Nowadays, Sonar, Fusion, Mutek, Burning Man and Garbicz, among many others.

Alongside their own work, they run Creatures of the Night, their label and growing event series, which has been building a community of like-minded artists across Latin America and further afield, with guests such as Marie Montexier, Lauer, ATA and no service. They also pursue more experimental and techno-leaning material under their Planet ZIM side project. Across all of it, the commitment to craft and connection remains constant.
