Roman Lindau

Straight pumping dub grooves built around one sample: 'Herb is a plant!' Roman Lindau strips things back on Herb Politics, letting a single vocal hook do the heavy lifting across four tracks of hypnotic, machine-driven techno. It's the kind of economical production that rewards repeated listening - repetition becomes ritual, the groove deepens with each spin.

Lindau's approach here sits somewhere between tech house and dub techno, with emphasis on rhythm and space rather than complexity. The sample sits like a mantra over kick, hi-hat, and filtered bass that inch through their variations like a slow, deliberate conversation. There's restraint in this work, and restraint is rarely boring.

ColorCode Records continues its run of intelligent, unfussy techno with this one. Built for the booth and the body in equal measure.
