Paul St. Hilaire

Landmark 2023 solo album from Berlin dub legend Paul St. Hilaire aka Tikiman. A three-decade career now crystallised on Kynant Records, this double gatefold stands as essential listening for anyone invested in the deeper lineages of Berlin's studio culture.

St. Hilaire's credentials run deep: Rhythm & Sound collaborator, studio architect, and one of the few voices who understands dub not as nostalgia but as living, breathing methodology. Tikiman Vol. 1 moves through layered spatial composition, stripped-back dub techno, and ambient passages that feel less like mood-setting and more like structural philosophy. The production is characteristically sparse, letting reverb, delay, and silence carry as much weight as the instrumentation itself.

This is patient, considered work—the sort of record that demands proper listening conditions and rewards repeated returns. Essential for serious collectors of contemporary dub and anyone following the ongoing conversation between Berlin's electronic underground and Caribbean studio tradition.
