Mr. G

Four house cuts on Mr. G's own Phoenix G imprint, 2022. Three floor tools and one suspenseful oddity — unmistakably G.

This is Mr. G operating at his most focused: stripped-back production that trusts the weight of a kick drum and the precision of a filter sweep. Baby Steps EP sits comfortably in that sweet spot where technical restraint becomes maximum impact. The three main-room tracks are built for the DJ who knows their room, constructed from the kind of repeating elements and subtle builds that reward patient hands on the mixer. The fourth cut breaks formation entirely — a genuinely weird moment that feels earned rather than bolted on.

Phoenix G has been Mr. G's laboratory since the label's inception, a space to test ideas without commercial compromise. This EP shows why that matters. Where other producers might sand down the rough edges, Mr. G leans in, letting the oddities breathe alongside the groove. Essential listening for anyone interested in German house that thinks rather than merely dances.
