About this record
Three tracks from Swedish producer Mattias El Mansouri on Phonica Records, and this is proper deep yet dancefloor-primed house music. Each cut carries a personal story - El Mansouri doesn't make anonymous grooves. Known for his work with Aniara and Nous'klaer, he brings that same uncompromising sensibility here: considered arrangements, textural depth, and a clear understanding of what works at 3am.
Phonica Records continues its run of intelligent house and techno with PHONICA044, material that sits comfortably between the introspective and the functional. El Mansouri's productions reward close listening but won't feel out of place in a serious DJ set. The dancefloor context is never forgotten, but neither is the composition.
A solid 12" for anyone after house music that respects both the body and the mind.
