Mark Seven

Takes you back but with crisp production. Classic, soulful house record for the divas by Mark Seven. This is proper house music - the kind that doesn't need to shout. Parkway Records pulls from the deep well of 90s house aesthetics while keeping everything clean and sharp, the way modern production should feel.

Mark Seven knows what he's doing here. The arrangements sit somewhere between Detroit techno sensibility and the melodic soul that made house music matter in the first place. Breakbeats, warm synths, and enough personality that you'll hear something new on the third spin. PKWY018 is the kind of record that works just as well at 3am as it does when you're actually paying attention in daylight.

Essential for anyone who thinks house music peaked about thirty years ago but isn't ready to let it rest. This isn't nostalgia - it's knowledge.
