About this record
Repress alert. Gideon Jackson returns to GEMS with 'Helpless', a London tech house landmark from 1996 that's lost none of its edge. The original mix remains our favourite - a masterclass in hypnotic, stripped-back groove that defined a generation of UK underground production. Alongside sits an unreleased Freeform Mix and a fresh 2025 cut, 'Sales In the Wind', proving Jackson's touch remains sharp three decades on.
Jackson's reputation as a London tech house pioneer is well-earned. His work in the mid-90s helped establish the template for functional, club-focused deep techno that still resonates today - music built for the dancefloor rather than the playlist. GEMS has become the natural home for his archive and new material alike, a label that understands the value of this work in both historical and practical terms.
Three tracks across this 12 inch span nearly thirty years of craft without a single misstep. Essential for anyone serious about UK house and tech house foundations.
