DJ Gamba

Barcelona's DJ Gamba lands on Partisan's Parti Pillz sublabel with four electro-meets-hip-house cuts that sit somewhere between dancefloor pragmatism and genuine experimentation. The pick here is 'Planet Gro (Hip House Cut)', a track that does exactly what it says on the tin without compromise.

Gamba's approach across Transform Your Consciousness sidesteps the progressive house template that defines so much contemporary output. Instead he's drawing from a lineage that values the cross-pollination between electro production, hip-house grooves, and the kind of synth architecture that demands space to breathe on a soundsystem. Parti Pillz has become a reliable home for this exact sensibility - artists uninterested in trend, more interested in building something that lasts across multiple listens and multiple floors.

A solid, unpretentious bit of work from someone who clearly understands the mechanics of what makes a record function both at home and in the club.
