Richard D. James arrived fully formed with this one. Twelve tracks of crystalline synthesis, glacial pads, and algorithmic precision that somehow breathe with genuine emotion. The production is immaculate but never cold. Tracks like Xmd5k and Heliosphan still sound like transmissions from another dimension, yet they've aged into classics that define the genre.
Ambient techno's cornerstone. If you don't have this, now's the time.
