Anastasia Kristensen

Anastasia Kristensen's debut LP on Intercept is a conceptual journey through sound and animal portraiture. Each track embodies its own beast - a clever framework that animates what could easily have been abstract techno into something genuinely alive. It's the kind of record that rewards close listening, where the structural ideas and sonic character work in tandem rather than competing for attention.

Kristensen has built her reputation through precise releases on Houndstooth, Turbo, and Arcola, establishing herself as someone who takes both production and concept seriously without letting either overwhelm the other. Bestiarium Sombre extends that approach across a full album arc. The music sits somewhere in the fertile overlap between IDM's textural complexity and techno's propulsive core - neither camp fully claims it, which is exactly where it belongs.

Intercept continues its track record of championing artists who resist easy categorisation. This is sophisticated dance music that functions equally well in the headphones or on a decent sound system. Pressed on green marbled translucent vinyl.
