Orlando Voorn is a Dutch DJ and producer born on 1968 in Amsterdam.
He was one of the first Dutch musicians to establish a vital connection between Detroit and Amsterdam in the early 1990s. Though he is often known for making Detroit-style techno and deep house, his vast, multi-monikered discography contains diversions into numerous styles including acid, hardcore, tribal house, and electro-funk.
Voorn began DJing at the early age of 12 and went on to win his first scratch competition at Amsterdam's Club Flora Palace. He won the Dutch DMC DJ Championship in 1986 and placed third in the worldwide competition.
As a solo artist he has worked under a large number of aliases, among them Frequency, Basic Bastard, Fix, Baruka, Dope Dog, Stalker and The Nighttripper. He also produced tracks with Blake Baxter under the name Ghetto Brothers and with Jeff Porter as Designer Loops. He released landmark records on Kevin Saunderson's KMS and Derrick May's Fragile Records, as well as collaborations with Juan Atkins and Blake Baxter.
He and Atkins joined forces to produce "Game One," which became a classic record on Atkins's label Metroplex.
During the 2000s, Voorn relocated to Detroit and became part of Underground Resistance's Submerge family, issuing material on his own Ignitor imprint. His own Triangle Records is among his ongoing label projects, alongside earlier homes including Rush Hour and Night Vision.
He has continued releasing exploratory techno and house records, including 2016's "In My World" and the more abstract, space-themed "Star Travel" in 2021. In 2023 Voorn collaborated with fellow Dutch artist Emil on two soulful house EPs under the Heist Mastercuts series.
More recently his work has appeared across a broadening spread of labels. He made his debut on Sketches Records and joined Craigie Knowes, the Perth-based label and DJ duo, for his debut EP on that imprint. That Craigie Knowes release, "Navigate," arrived in June 2026, pairing deep house journeys on the A-side with two grooving house tracks on the B-side. He has also appeared on TRUST, following up his 2023 "Outerworld" release with raw electro cuts rooted firmly in his Detroit influences. Across all of it, the thread is consistent: machine funk, deep grooves, and a refusal to be pinned to a single mode or moment.
