This is the debut LP from Frankfurt duo Marc Krause & Martin Pfanzer, a record that sounds like it was assembled in real time, textures bleeding into one another with the kind of haziness that comes from actually playing together rather than programming parts.
Unbreak My Heart sits somewhere between contemporary R&B vocabulary and indie pop sensibility, but it's not interested in clean genre demarcation. Instead, Young Hare stretch both out, bend them sideways, and see what happens when you prioritise atmosphere and feel over polish. Rhythms float a touch behind the beat. Melodies arrive blurred at the edges. It's intimate, occasionally disorienting, and entirely their own.
Released on Altin Village & Mine Records in 2014, this is essential listening for anyone who understands that the best experimental pop records are rarely the ones shouting about their experimentalism.
