DJ Nobu

Ambient/minimal techno triptych from DJ Nobu, released on Rush Hour's No 'Label' in 2019. The A-side 'Zzzz' was composed as healing music for a sick friend - a gesture that anchors the entire EP in something deeply human and restorative. It's the kind of record that earned nods from Surgeon and Ben Ufo, and you can hear why: these three pieces move through texture and space with genuine care, never rushing, never showing off.

Nobu's approach here is sparse and deliberate. Where others might layer, he subtracts. Where others might push, he breathes. The result is an EP that operates in that rare middle ground between ambient and minimal techno - using just enough structure to keep you listening, enough emptiness to let your mind wander. This is music for late nights, quiet rooms, or moments when you need to reset.

No 'Label' has always championed artists working at the margins of electronic music, and this release sits comfortably in that lineage. Essential listening for anyone who understands that the most powerful dance music doesn't always need a kick drum.
