Unknown Artist

The Putch series continues its intriguing run with another anonymous producer submission. There's something compelling about a label willing to release quality work without clinging to the artist's name - PUTCH remains one of the more mysterious outfits doing that right now, apparently operating from somewhere in the Fijis with a roster of unknown producers putting out consistently good stuff.

Putch 6 sits firmly in tech house territory, the kind of stripped-back, functional stuff that works in a room at 3am. No unnecessary flourishes, just solid engineering and a clear understanding of what a dancefloor needs. At 45 RPM on 12-inch, it's built for the turntable.

If you're tired of knowing exactly who made every record you play, or just after straightforward tech house that doesn't announce itself loudly, this is worth the punt.
