Record Label
Tresor
Tresor is the Berlin label that grew out of the club of the same name, the one that opened in the vaults of a disused department store on Leipziger Strasse in March 1991, with the label following the same year under Dimitri Hegemann.
From the start it looked outward, and musicians from Michigan such as Juan Atkins, Underground Resistance and Drexciya were central to those early years, their trips to Berlin opening up a conversation between the two scenes. That Detroit-Berlin axis is still what the label is best known for, and it runs straight through the records SEVEN keeps in: Scan 7's Dark Territory, first released by Tresor in 1996 and since remastered from the original DATs by Mike Grinser and Blake Baxter, alongside Resurfaced and Baxter's own Dream Sequence X.
Dark, restrained, groove-first techno with the house end never far away.
