Youandewan first played FOLD in London in 2022, then Globus at Tresor in Berlin in 2024.

Youandewan is the alias of Ewan Smith, a DJ and producer born in Scotland and based in Berlin since 2013.

His sound has always been rooted in deep house but with a restless streak: early records touched on UK garage and dubstep-adjacent bass music, before settling into a more refined language of tech house and minimal techno shaped by analogue hardware. Listeners have noted a strong Detroit influence threading through his work. Recent productions have been described as "understated funk from the modular master," pointing to a shift toward more textural, synthesiser-led territory.

Initial success came on labels like Hypercolour and through remixes of Gerry Read and Midland, which brought him wider attention across the UK underground. He went on to release a self-titled EP and the "Verloren" 12-inch on Will Saul's Aus Music, followed by his debut album "There Is No Right Time" on the same label in 2016 - a ten-track record that reflected the cooler, more nuanced direction he had developed after moving to Berlin. Earlier work also appeared on Skream's Disfigured Dubs, with the "Youandme (On My Mind)" single landing there in 2011.

Smith runs his own label, The Brane, out of Berlin. The first release, "The Brane 001," appeared in September 2017 as a vinyl EP in a tech house and minimal techno style. The imprint returned in 2023 with "The Brane 002," a split release with Velvet Velour.

He has also released on Butter Side Up, with the "Thyme Capsules" EP in 2021 drawing praise for its analogue craft, and Pure Shores, his own imprint launched in 2020.
