Demuja has played Fuse in Brussels.

Demuja is the project of Austrian DJ and producer Bernhard Weiss. His music draws on Deep Disco, Raw House and Electro, with influences from hip-hop and drum'n'bass. Expect a raw, 90s-leaning sound and a strong sense of soul over clean, polished production.

He trained as a drummer from a young age under his father, then moved into Salzburg's B-Boy scene and won the Austrian Breakdance Championship twice with his crew. At a battle afterparty he first heard house music, and he went on to DJ and then produce. He began with hip-hop and drum'n'bass beats before settling on house. He names Kerri Chandler, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Glenn Underground as key influences.

One of his first EPs came out on New York's Nervous Records, and it opened doors to other labels. Since then he has released on Kerri Chandler's Madhouse, Jimpster's Freerange, Toy Tonics, Shadow Child's Food Music, Traxx Underground, Let's Play House, Shall Not Fade and 124 Recordings, and also with Universal Music.

In 2017 Demuja launched his own label, MUJA. He started it because he was tired of waiting for replies to demos, and because many labels only released one genre. MUJA gives him a home for his music where he decides the sound, artwork and visuals himself.

Bernie has has a graphic designer and video producer and so he does his own artwork and design for the label. MUJA's first vinyl release was the Mary Janes Theory EP. It sold out quickly and as I write this bio his second repress has almost sold out.

Since then MUJA has become the main outlet for his work with much of his output being self-sold on Bandcamp as this capable and self sufficient artist expresses his independence.
