Marcus L

Marcus L is a Seoul-based DJ, producer, promoter, label owner and venue owner whose career spans well over a decade in electronic music. He is perhaps equally known for his work behind the decks and in the studio as he is for building and running Faust, one of Seoul's most respected techno clubs. Both sides of what he does reflect the same qualities: consistency, curiosity and a genuine investment in the music and the people around it.

He began his music career in the UK after completing his studies there, before returning to Seoul where he took on a residency and management role at Faust and contributed to the city's club culture through his involvement with Kammer Radio. Over the years he has played alongside artists like Jeff Mills, Avalon Emerson and DVS1, appeared in a Vice documentary on Korea's club culture, and spoke at ADE in 2020 about Seoul's evolving electronic scene. His sets move across deep, industrial and ravey techno, with a clear affection for nineties acid sounds. He has a longstanding connection with Berlin, appearing regularly at venues including Berghain and RSO, as well as the now-closed Watergate.

In 2014 he founded his Ameniia label as a platform for local and less visible talent, with remixes contributed by AnD, Manni Dee, Lauer, Ambivalent and others. His own productions have appeared on SPFDJ's Intrepid Skin label, placing him alongside artists such as VTSS, Nene Hatun and Hadone.

Marcus and the SEVEN team have been friends for years and the relationship even pre-dates SEVEN. CRYME and SIBAST have both played at Faust and Marcus always stays with us when he visits Berlin. Marcus was Executive Producer on release SEVEN7007, all three artists on that release were all Faust residents at the time.
