About this record
This is the second sampler pulled from Frankie Knuckles' own Tales From Beyond The Tone Arm CD selection, focusing on the Soultronic sound. Pressed on white vinyl. It's a curated snapshot of what moved the godfather of house music himself - tracks chosen by someone who didn't just define Chicago house but lived it.
The Soultronic selection leans into the garage house and deeper Chicago sound, the kind of material that underpinned the dancefloor philosophy Knuckles championed from the Warehouse onwards. This sampler format lets you hear across multiple artists and perspectives while staying tethered to a single vision: Knuckles' ear for what matters.
Nocturnal Groove's approach here - releasing these selections as physical vinyl samplers rather than a bloated retrospective - respects both the music and the listener. White vinyl pressing adds a welcome tactile element to what is, fundamentally, a document of taste from someone whose taste shaped an entire genre.
