About this record
Collaborator and friend Baka G returns with Weekend, a forthright house EP that channels Chicago's stripped-back approach to the form. We rate her highly - she's a producer who understands the essentials: groove, space, and intent. This is her upcoming release on the SEVEN label, and it shows why we're backing her work.
Weekend sits firmly in that lineage of functional, dancefloor-focused house music. Baka G works with minimal ornamentation here, letting drums and bass carry the weight while synths punctuate rather than overwhelm. The kind of record that sounds just as good in a 4am basement as it does on headphones at home.
Happiness Therapy EP, six tracks of uncluttered house music from a producer worth keeping tabs on.
