Ability II

Bleep veteran David Duncan, known as Ability II, unearths seven previously unreleased recordings from the early 90s on his own I9M label. This archival LP captures formative moments in Duncan's pioneering work within bleepy house music, a sound that defined much of what came after.

The material spans a critical period when acid house and Detroit techno were colliding with UK underground sensibilities. Duncan's productions here sit at that intersection - skeletal, dubbed-out, machine-precise yet deeply human in their restraint. These are not polished retrospectives but genuine artefacts, the kind of tape-bound experiments that circulated through specialist record shops and late-night radio before streaming flattened everything into accessibility.

I9M Recordings, Duncan's own imprint, has now made these tracks available again. Essential listening for anyone tracking the lineage of UK house, or simply looking for the real thing from someone who helped define it.
