Carluschka's Sunday Morning Mix Is Full of Flirting, Feeling, and Dubby Warmth

Carluschka is based in Hamburg, where she DJs across dub house, minimal, prog and tech house, with percussion at the centre and a sound shaped in part by goa festivals she attended as a child. Beyond the booth she co-founded FLINTA_ Roundtable_, hosts radio shows on Sicnal, runs an all-nighter format at Golden Pudel Club, and writes for Hinterhaus, which means she is, in a very real sense, one of ours. She is a regular face in the SEVEN office on her trips to Berlin, and this mix is her best introduction yet.

Tell us about this mix: what mood or journey were you going for?

I wanted to explore a slower, deeper, more dubby sound that I've recently fallen in love with. The mix feels playful and warm, with little moments that are a bit cheeky and sexy, but also slightly melancholic.

Where and how did you put it together?

I've really come to associate this slower, dubby sound with someone who's become very important to me over the past few months. So this mix slowly came together over that time, collecting tracks that now remind me of those moments. There's definitely a bit of flirting, a bit of love, and a lot of feeling woven into it.

Pick one track in here you cannot stop playing right now, and why.

Bengoa, Exiles.

When and where should people listen to this?

For me, it's a Sunday morning set. The kind of mix that feels right when the sun comes up and you want something warm, deep, and gentle to ease you into the day. It's a little dreamy, and hopefully feels like good company, wherever your Sunday morning begins.

What is your connection to SEVEN or to Berlin?

SEVEN has been part of my journey for the past two years. It all started with me being a fan of their releases, and over time it naturally grew into a really beautiful collaboration through mixes and events I've played. More recently, I also started writing for Hinterhaus, which feels like becoming part of the family in a way. It's been really inspiring to be surrounded by such a creative and caring team, and I'm grateful to contribute my own stories and perspective.

Where can people catch you next?

It's festival season! You can catch me at SNNTG Festival, Feel Festival, Habitat Festival, and Mahagoni over the next few months. I'm excited to bring this sound out into the summer.

Vinyl, CDJs, or both, and why?

Both. I love exchanging music, whether it's vinyl or CDs. I even have a little CD burner at home, and making someone a personal CD is a love language. For me, one of the best gifts you can give is music. Every record or CD carries a little story, and nothing really beats finding a special record while digging through a record shop.

The first record you ever bought?

Oliver Koletzki, Großstadtmärchen 2 - Part 2. Ha.
