Moody Mehran has been a fixture of the Dutch electronic music scene for years, building community through Diaspora Radio and Acid Hamam while carving out a sound rooted in Chicago house and reaching well beyond it. He has been a close friend of SEVEN since the beginning, and now he is taking that friendship a step further: his debut EP on the SEVEN label is on its way. In the meantime, he has handed us this mix, recorded live in the shop, as a proper send-off to a summer he will not forget in a hurry.
Tell us about this mix: what mood or journey were you going for?
It's released at the end of the summer but it's an ode to my best summer yet. With a lot of tracks I've played at festivals this summer and a lot of tracks that give me a happy and warm feeling.
Where and how did you put it together?
Actually I did this in the SEVEN record shop. I got asked to do the livestream last minute, so luckily I had my laptop with me and was able to do it with minimum prep.
When and where should people listen to this?
Whenever you feel like you need to relive the 2026 summer.
What is your connection to SEVEN or to Berlin?
I'm a big fan of SEVEN, friends with Lucas and Glenn, and I'm releasing my first EP on the SEVEN label.
Vinyl, CDJs, or both, and why?
Home vinyl and DJ with CDJs.
If you could keep only three records, which?
Stephen Encinas, Disco Illusion, Drew Sky, Skydoisom I, Glenn Underground, Atmosfear.
A hidden gem from your collection most people have not heard?
Only got gems, but this one you probably don't know: Michael Soward, The Michael Soward EP.
Press play, close your eyes, and let Mehran walk you back through his summer. You can find the mix on SoundCloud, follow him on Instagram, and check his Resident Advisor page for upcoming dates.
