Raised between cultures and shaped by dancefloors stretching from Berlin to Bali, Ennio has built a sound that resists easy categories. A member of TILT and co-founder of BUTO BAYANG, he has played spaces like Säule at Berghain, Radion and Macadam, and has become one of the more genuinely exciting selectors coming out of Berlin's underground right now.
His SEVEN mix is raw, unplanned and exactly what you'd hope for from someone who believes a dancefloor should always be kept a little curious. It was a pleasure to listen to live from the office and an honour to release it here today. On the eve of it's release we got to ask him some questions about it which he answered, quite appropriately given his bio, remotely from his vacation in Bali.
Tell us about this mix: what mood or journey were you going for?
Just being spontaneous and trying to get over my extreme camera shyness. Ha. But I decided to finally do streams, since every recording is a bit of exposure therapy and I need to get over it.
Where and how did you put it together?
It was improvised. I prefer unplanned sets because they feel more honest and spontaneous, as long as I know what's on my sticks. But I definitely learned that with a camera in front of me, having at least a loose plan would help calm the nerves a bit. Still had a lot of fun though, and I hope you enjoy it too!

Vanni Danni, "I Wanna Be a Cowboy". I just think it's sexy, and the crowd always reacts to it in such a nice way. I get tons of ID requests for it all the time. Definitely not gatekeeping it.

Wherever you can forget to check your phone for a bit.
What is your connection to SEVEN or to Berlin?
My friendship and admiration for CRYME and what he and Glenn are doing!
Vinyl, CDJs, or both, and why?
Both are great and bring a different approach and feeling. But I definitely prefer digital and carrying it all in my pocket. Digging all night long alone on your laptop, going through stores, Bandcamp and deep into YouTube, is what I love. I like to be in my own quiet world doing it.
A hidden gem from your collection most people have not heard?
Lots of unreleased tracks by some friends and myself.
