Breaking Old Patterns: Jana Falcon's Mix for a Year of Change

Jana Falcon has been a quiet constant in Berlin's music community since arriving from the Frankfurt area in 2011. A former vinyl cutting engineer and resident of both Garage Girls and BRENN, she came up through production, mixing, mastering, and cutting, giving her a grounded, end-to-end relationship with recorded sound that comes through in how she selects and sequences. Her sets move between UK Garage, 2 Step, and 90s house on one side and synth-driven contemporary house and disco-inflected grooves on the other, held together by a considered ear rather than any rigid genre logic.

Tell us about this mix: what mood or journey were you going for?

The mood was a bit like a rebirth. I feel like 2026 is a year of big changes for many people, and also for myself, and I wanted to reproduce this vibe into this set. Breaking old patterns, letting go, and being open for some fresh and beautiful new journeys.

Where and how did you put it together?

I put it together in my former apartment in Schöneberg on a super busy day, and preparing the set for SEVEN really calmed me down. I packed lots of records that I really, really love but don't play that often.

Pick one track in here you cannot stop playing right now, and why.

Salinas, "Should I Stay Or Should I Go (Speed Garage Edit)".

I bought the record back then because I was really into the A1 track. After relistening to B2 after years it absolutely blew my mind and I was like: whoaaa, that's gonna be my go-to tune for summer 2026!

When and where should people listen to this?

Everytime and everywhere, of course!

What is your connection to SEVEN or to Berlin?

CRYME's productions are dope af! When I had a B2B session with my dear friend Carlotta, aka CHUKWU, she played some of his tunes I didn't know before and I started dancing like a maniac. Due to time reasons I didn't make it to their wonderful record store before the recording of my stream. Wow, they put so much love into every single detail of this community space, and I'll be back very soon. Lovely and talented people, and so much beautiful energy.

A hidden gem from your collection most people have not heard?

Ocean Parkway, "Universal (Two) (That Kid Chris Mix)".

What is on your turntable at home right now?

Sam Fan Thomas, "Neng Makassi".

What are you working on next?

Definitely getting back into producing more and releasing an EP by the end of this year. Also planning collabs with some friends and artists that I really admire.
