Mython

Mython is Monty Schütze, a techno producer and DJ originally from northern Germany, now based in Berlin. He came to electronic music by way of live playing, drumming and playing guitar in several metal bands before gravitating towards techno, and that background still shows in his feel for rhythm and percussion.

His sound sits on the darker, more hypnotic side of techno, straight to the point and built on groovy patterns rather than anything showy. He released his debut EP "Inside Out" on Florian Meindl's Flash Recordings, quickly followed by two more on the same label, "Scherbenhaufen" and "Frontline." Not long after, he set up his own label, Oura Records, as a home for his music and that of the artists around him, including his friend Jonas Xenon. The two now also run Headlight Recordings together, where his more recent "Kairos EP" landed alongside Idu Berg and Isabel Soto.

Over the last few years his style has gradually moved towards more minimal productions, aiming for a balance of melancholy and pure energy. He plays regularly at Berlin clubs like Tresor, Watergate, Else, Renate and Ohm, and has taken his sound further afield across Europe and beyond. It is dancefloor music at heart: authentic, uncompromising techno.

Monty is a good friend of SEVEN and as a sound engineer he regularly masters sets for the SEVEN Mix Series and the PRNCAST Live Sets series we run on Soundcloud. He also moonlights as a sound engineer at the Berlin club RSO where he is one of our favourites.
