LUMBAGO

LUMBAGO is the electronic music project of Maximilian Wilhelms, who grew up in Hannover and is currently based in Göttingen. His sound draws from 90s influences, weaving together elements of progressive house and deep house built around driving basslines and a sense of energy that encourages people to get lost in the music.

Maxi's background is rooted in classical music. He played in orchestras and sang in the opera choir in Hannover before turning his attention to electronic production in 2019. Over the past four years he has also developed a practice as a DJ, performing regularly in Hannover and Göttingen as well as further afield across Germany and beyond. He is also part of the DJ trio HAUS^3 where he organises events. Alongside his own releases, he also releases on labels such as SEVEN, where he recently joined the latest VA. Whether in the studio or behind the decks, his aim is simple: to use sound as a way of bringing people together and creating a warm, open space where, for a little while at least, the everyday fades into the background.
