Janeret

Janeret is the alias of Mickael Jeanneret, a French DJ and producer originally from Grenoble, in the south-east of France. He grew up in Grenoble moved to Paris and now lives in Barcelona.

His DJ career began around 2009, initially in bars and small clubs, and was a regular at a Grenoble club called Vertigo, where visiting DJs included Laurent Garnier and Jeff Mills.

After moving to Paris he began playing under the Janeret name, with his first significant booking coming at Concrete in 2014. His sound moves across house, dub and breakbeat through to jungle and drum and bass, held together by a consistent sonic signature.

The atmospheric depth in his productions traces back to an early fixation on intelligent jungle: he discovered Good Looking Records and LTJ Bukem's label, began making jungle tracks himself, and while he describes his minimal and house work as not directly jungle in its drum construction, the atmospheric quality of those pads has remained a clear thread in his music.

His approach to releasing is deliberately measured: he does not release much despite making music every day, preferring to listen to a track many times before committing, and when he stops getting bored of it after a hundred listens, he considers it ready.

He is a key artist on the Yoyaku roster and serves as artistic director of Joule Imprint. His EPs across Yoyaku, Aku, Joule, Berg Audio and FUSE have earned him a reputation among collectors as a purchase-on-sight artist. A 2024 release, the "Muba EP," arrived on RAWAX, marking his entry into that label's catalogue with a record drawing on minimal-tech textures and what reviewers described as a distinctively future-organic sonic picture.

As a live performer he tours regularly across Europe and has also played Japan, Australia and the Americas, known for sets that bring together minimal house and breaks.
