Brawther

Brawther is Alexandre Gouyette, a French house artist born and raised in Paris and now based in Lisbon, by way of a long spell living in Leeds. Nearly fifteen years into his career, he is one of the more forthright talents to have come out of the French scene, driven above all by a deep love of house music.

He champions what he calls the True School sound, respecting house's origins while weaving the past and present together so the essence of the genre comes through. You can hear his lineage in there, from Larry Heard to Nottingham's DIY collective, and it wasn't long before he became a close friend and protégé of the US pioneer Chez Damier. His music has stayed selectively released, on esteemed labels like secretsundaze and My Love Is Underground, and ranges from pad-laced daydreams to tougher, edged-out 4/4.

He is also the co-founder of Dungeon Meat, a label and production partnership with Tristan da Cunha built firmly on quality over quantity, and since 2020 he has led Interweaved, an online community of producers, DJs and house heads from around the world. He takes real pride in connecting people and making a safe space for his peers.

Like our our good friend Cinthie he is as at home playing in Ibiza as he is at Fabric or Berghain's Panorama Bar. Not shy but definately humble and he keeps the number of interviews down and lets the music speak for himself. A strong ambassador for underground music.
