Aedis

Aedis is David Iriarte, originally from Barcelona and now based in Amsterdam. The project is where he digs deeper into a sound he has been shaping for a while, refining it slowly and letting its identity come into focus through small, deliberate steps.

It lives in an off-centre corner of dance music: deep, dub-tinged and built on groove and movement. There is techno's pulse and minimal structure underneath it all, but the rhythm stays upfront and the small shifts and textures do most of the talking. Across his releases he moves through the deeper end of tech house, into mystic 2-step and rolling techno, always with a real sense of space.

That spaciousness is the thing you notice most: modulated delays that keep unfolding, cavernous reverb, and weighty sub frequencies grounding everything below. Over the top he scatters fragments of voices, psychedelic refrains, intricate breaks and thudding bass, so there is always something new surfacing in the mix.
