Technique marks New Order's pivot toward the dancefloor without abandoning the melodic sensibility that made them essential. Bernard Sumner and co. absorbed the acid house energy circulating through Balearic clubs and returned with something that works equally well in a Manchester warehouse or on Radio 1. It's their most urgent album, bristling with life.
