Junior Boys

It's okay to take time to heal. It's okay to advocate for your own wellbeing. It's okay to slow down. It's okay to be quiet in these loud times. Just beautiful music.

Junior Boys return with Waiting Game, a record that feels like permission itself. The Hamilton-based duo have built a reputation for meticulous production and emotional intelligence across two decades, and here they distil that sensibility into something genuinely restorative. These twelve tracks move with patience - synth tones that breathe, vocals that sit in the space rather than dominate it, rhythms that suggest rather than insist. This is electronic music that trusts silence.

Waiting Game functions as both a technical showcase and an act of restraint. Ambient textures drift into downtempo grooves that never quite rush; synth-pop sensibilities emerge without any of the glossiness. It's the sound of people who've earned the right to do exactly what they want, and what they want is to make music that heals. City Slang's presentation is characteristically clean - this is a record that rewards repeated, attentive listening.
