About this record
New York deep house at its best. Dubby, moody, pad-driven, from four artists who all lived in the Midwest before landing in Brooklyn.
Superflux Vol. 1 is a studied exercise in restraint and atmosphere. Chavez and IT-XPO craft tracks that breathe, letting warm synth layers and submerged rhythms develop at their own pace. There's a distinctly American approach here - rooted in the meditative strain of deep house but filtered through a Midwestern sensibility that favours substance over flash.
This is music for 4am moments and careful listening. Superflux have clearly thought about what makes deep house resonate, and they've nailed it.
