Lost late-80s Rwandan cassette, first ever vinyl reissue. Electrified praise songs, stuttering guitars that eerily foresaw the genocide that would silence the band.

About this record

A lost late-80s Rwandan cassette, finally pressed to vinyl for the first time. Bizimungu Dieudonne's Inzovu Y'Imirindi is haunting in retrospect - electrified praise songs built on stuttering, fractured guitars that seemed to sense what was coming. The band would be silenced by genocide just years after this recording. What survives is raw, unpolished, and deeply moving: folk and funk traditions refracted through a sound that feels both celebratory and unsettled.

Mississippi Records has done essential work rescuing this artifact from obscurity. The production is loose and live, guitars knotted and urgent, vocals delivered with spiritual conviction. There's joy here, but it's complicated - a snapshot of Rwandan musical life before catastrophe rewrote everything.

A necessary reissue, handled with the gravity it deserves.
