SEVEN label artist, Tom Peters is featured today in a beautiful interview for Hinterhaus Magazine, titled “From Chaos to Calm, a Life Reimagined,”. The piece, written by Charlie Taylor, takes us on a gentle walk through Tom’s life journey—from growing up between worlds to building a grounded, joyful way of moving through the music scene.
Tom grew up in northern Germany, near the Baltic Sea—a place full of close-knit routines but also small-mindedness. Being mixed-race and gay, he often felt out of place. Yet music offered a doorway.
“I always had older friends. I was curious, I wanted more.”
His first taste of freedom came at 14, when his mum drove him to a rave—braids in his hair, full of energy and that unforgettable release the dancefloor brings: “I loved it.”
His journey took him to London and New York—each city shaping him differently. In London, the club crowd taught him presence and how to read a room. In New York, he learned that ambition and glitter don’t always feel fulfilling. “Now I’m more sensitive to the room’s energy,” he explained. But he also admitted, “Living in cities like London or New York is so expensive and stressful… For me, New York became too expensive and soul-crushing.” Returning to Berlin gave him space not only to stretch musically but also to slow down and reconnect with what matters.
Tom’s path also led him to sobriety and to launch Club Sober, a daytime rave without substances—a new way to connect, dance, and feel alive that doesn’t rely on excess. “It was really exciting launching it, because so many people had told me they were looking for alternative spaces,” he said. For Tom, it’s not about exclusion but about presence—being clear in the moment, open to connection, and embracing that club energy through mindfulness and care.
Away from the booth, Tom speaks of slowing down, protecting his energy, and choosing simple routines—cooking with his partner, biking, breathing, and meditating. “I just wanted zen,” he shared, adding that his grandmother’s simple advice—“just breathe for ten”—has become a touchstone in his life. “Just breathe, and let life unfold. Try not to control it.”
The interview captures Tom’s journey in movement—from chaos to calm, from chasing to being. It highlights what we care about at SEVEN: artists grounded in their truth, who value sustainability, presence, and genuine creativity. As Tom sums it up with a quiet wisdom, “If it works, it works. If it doesn’t, it’s also fine.” It’s a story worth sharing—about a life reimagined not by chasing, but by letting go, breathing, and being human.
