#3 in SEVEN’s Meet the Remixer Series.
Christoph Faust’s journey into music wasn’t a typical one. Born and raised in the east side of Berlin, his first creative outlet was graffiti, an art form that fed his youthful energy. But when life threw him a curveball in the form of a cancer diagnosis, his perspective changed entirely.
“When I was in the hospital fighting my cancer, I knew—okay, music is what I want to do for the rest of my life,”
Fifteen years later, music isn’t just his passion; it’s his purpose. Though he’s a skilled producer, Christoph Faust is, at his core, a DJ. “I love producing, but my passion is in the club with the community on the dancefloor and the energy is cooking,” he says. This connection to the dancefloor is what fuels much of his creativity, including his recent remix of CRYME’s Reality Rush, the title track from SEVEN’s latest release, SEVEN7002.
Christoph Faust’s collaboration with CRYME

Christoph’s collaboration with CRYME began naturally, born of a shared vision for music. The two started chatting and working on tracks together before the remix project came into view.
“Our vision of music is pretty close and goes along with each other really well. So when CRYME invited me to remix Reality Rush, it felt like a perfect fit.”
The original track, with its warm, sunrise-like energy, inspired Christoph to take it in a different direction.
“I imagine a beautiful morning at Panorama Bar when everything is so warm and cosy. I wanted to do something for when the sun goes down and the night energy comes up again. Pumpy, a bit dubby, with a powerful kick and vocal element.”
Christoph’s approach to remixing is methodical yet instinctive. He starts by listening to the original track repeatedly, absorbing its essence until a new story forms in his mind. “Then I try to contrast that,” he explains.
For Reality Rush, this contrast came together effortlessly. “It flowed well. I love CRYME’s music, so I directly got some ideas in my head.” His remixing philosophy focuses on reconstruction: keeping a connection to the original but creating a track that feels fresh and unexpected.

Despite the flow, the process wasn’t without its quirks. Much of the remix was crafted in a café in Berlin Mitte, a space Christoph has found particularly productive. “I don’t know what it is about that place, but I can focus so much there,” he shares.
The final result is a track that Christoph is immensely proud of, one that embodies what he calls the “Faust sound.” It’s powerful yet jazzy, a balance that defines his artistic identity.
“I think it’s one of the best works I’ve ever done.”
When asked whether he prefers producing original tracks or remixing, Christoph can’t choose. Both offer different creative challenges.
“With a blank page, it’s exciting to see what comes out of your head and emotions. But creating a remix of a really good track is also risky—you don’t want to disrespect the original but still need to make something unique.”
Christoph’s production setup reflects his minimalist, adaptable style. While some producers swear by racks of hardware, Christoph sticks to his laptop and Ableton.

“I’ve tried hardware, but it’s not for me. I love the freedom of staying inside my little box. I can be creative anywhere I want to be.”
Drawing inspiration from artists like Ryan Elliott, Marcel Dettmann, Lil Louis, Mr. G, and Chloé Caillet, these would be his personal choice as favourite remixers.

But for now, his remix of Reality Rush is a testament to his talent and dedication. It’s a track designed to transition the dancefloor from warm, euphoric mornings to the pulsing energy of the night—a perfect snapshot of Christoph Faust’s journey, both as an artist and as a storyteller through sound.
