James Axon

James Axon is a DJ, musician, and the founder of Planet Love, a queer underground party rooted in Los Angeles. He also hosts Hearing Color, a residency show on Dublab.

A pianist by training and a dedicated record collector, James came to DJing through years spent in bands and orchestral ensembles, and that background quietly shapes the way he constructs a set. He has played keys alongside Seven Davis Jr. and Massimiliano Pagliara, and has shared bills with Octo Octa, Eris Drew, Avalon Emerson, The Blessed Madonna, Derrick Carter, and Paramida, among others.

His sets move across house, techno, italo, electro, disco, and breaks, with a sound rooted in early listening to artists like Aphex Twin, Kraftwerk, and Jeff Mills. Melodic and synth-heavy, his selections feel consistent whether he is playing an intimate loft or a warehouse deep into the night.
