DJ handbag is a Berlin based DJ, Party Promoter and former Berghain bouncer. For her day job she is a social worker specialising in harm reduction.
DJ handbag is a unique voice in Berlin’s queer nightlife — a trans house DJ with deep roots in the scene and a sound that blends joy, rebellion, and care. Her sets move between vocal house, hardbag, garage, UK bass and industrial textures, creating something dreamy, euphoric, and unmistakably hers.
Before stepping behind the decks, she spent a decade working the door at Berghain and Laboratory. These roles gave her a front-row seat to Berlin’s underground and shaped her views on community, care, and club culture. That experience now feeds into her DJing: every set is a response to what she saw, a love letter to what nightlife could be.
She started DJing at 44, and since then, she’s played events across Berlin and Europe. In 2022 she joined the Stockholm-Berlin-based Ooze Collective as a resident. She has also released a mix for SEVEN that fuses glittery house, tribal percussion, and gospel vocals with a powerful sense of purpose.

Before Ooze, she co-founded DURCH, a fast and ferocious industrial techno party and label that made a big mark on Berlin’s underground. Known for bold bookings and its raw DIY energy, DURCH helped shape a wave of high-speed club music before the crew chose to end it rather than go commercial.

Her sound today is celebratory but never shallow — a mix of diva house, deep groove and queer emotionality, built for bodies in motion.
In both her music and her advocacy, DJ handbag is committed to building “braver spaces” — spaces that don’t just promise safety, but practice care when things get difficult. She’s a longtime harm reduction worker, involved in outreach through Sonar Berlin, and a passionate voice for community accountability in nightlife.
With humour, self-love, and a refusal to gatekeep, DJ handbag is part of a growing wave of artists reshaping Berlin’s scene from the inside.
